As a young man, I had many questions regarding religion and faith. Like many, I struggled and wrestled with issues and questions that have no worldly answer. Fortunately, I have always had people around me who guided me towards a relationship with Jesus through the Catholic faith. Now, as an adult I simply try to build upon the values and morals that were instilled in me.
Each day I try to give my all to be a husband who honors his wife, a father who lovingly instructs his children, an employee who is fair and loyal, and a person who does his best to treat others the way he would want to be treated. All too often, I am reminded that I am human. I fall short every single day. Yet, every day I awake with thanks that I am here, and I ask Jesus to help me once again be the person that I am meant to be. Perhaps, that is what my faith is - a constant focus on trying harder, and improving.
I believe our forefathers knew that God gave us free will and it's our decision whether we look to God for truth and mercy, or we may choose to turn away. Our forefathers framed the Constitution around this Natural Law, allowing the freedom to worship God, as well as the freedom not to. As such, I would oppose any legislation that seeks to limit our religious freedom and ignores the rights given by God and expressed in the Constitution.
